Contemporary Built Heritage Conservation & Rehabilitation in the Mediterranean Montpellier - Postponed

 

 

Call for Proposals

UMAR (Union of Mediterranean Architects) invites researchers and practitioners involved in the process of preservation, conservation, renovation or transformation of contemporary architecture buildings, sites and neighbourhoods in the countries around the Mediterranean to present their works at the International Conference Contemporary Architectural Rehabilitation on the Mediterranean that will take place in Montpellier, France, on the 23rd and 24th of June 2020. Please submit abstracts and projects no later than January 29th, 2020 (24 pm GMT)

UMAR is now accepting proposals for:

 
Conference papers resulting from research promoting tailored rehabilitation of Contemporary Heritage buildings, sites and neighbourhoods

Rehabilitation projects preserving the original character of Contemporary Heritage buildings, sites and neighbourhoods and responding to our-days comfort standards and regulations, with programs adapted to today’s lifestyle.
A scientific committee will designate the conference papers and the rehabilitation projects to be presented, having in mind the following expected impacts :

1. Promoting tailored rehabilitation of Contemporary Heritage

2. Awareness of Contemporary Architectural Heritage

3. Disclosing case studies

The scientific committee will select a maximum of twelve proposals among conference papers and rehabilitation projects to be presented at the conference.

Each one should be in English or in French and shouldn’t take more than 40 minutes to present.

All pictures, drawings and graphics submitted must be free of copyright. The authors retain the intellectual property of the works submitted. The authors will concede the corresponding exploitation rights in order to publish a catalogue, to be accessible the web archive of UMAR and to be part of a traveling exhibit, as well as being part of other actions linked to the visibility of the call.

UMAR shall cover travel and accommodation expenses for each speaker. Speakers shall not receive remuneration for their presentations.

Submission Guidelines

The submissions are only via email with PDF attachment size under 8 MB, addressed simultaneously to info@umar.org and to ciaf@cnoa.com, they must be written in English or in French and should fill the following required information:

Conference papers

Title & Resume (two DIN A3 or four DIN A4 single-sided sheets max);
Authors information (Name, University/Company/Organisation, Country);
 

Biography (200 words max); please indicate your email, phone number and address.

Rehabilitation projects
 
Text reflecting the key idea of the project (300 words max);

Summary of the intervention in four DIN A3 single-sided sheets presented in horizontal format. This summary will consist of the plans, sections and elevations providing a good understanding of the project, the photos of the initial state and photos of the work accomplished, each accompanied by a short caption. A representative photograph of the work (Jpg, 300dpi, 15x10 cm);
